In comments following the Governor’s speech, Republican House Minority Leader James Townsend of Artesia said he would have liked to have heard the Democratic governor give credit to the oil and gas sector…. The booming part of New Mexico’s economy that generated the revenue surplus lawmakers plan to start spending now that the session is underway.
In comments to me following the state of the state, Albuquerque GOP Senator James White also brought up the issue:

The state GOP said the speech was, “A dream of ambitious programs and plans to fund new projects, adding, the governor remains shortsighted on how the state will pay for any of these. She just doesn’t get it.”
