At the Roundhouse, lawmakers in the State House of Representatives will debate a bill to fully endow the Legislative Lottery Scholarship Fund via an expansion of the New Mexico Lottery into sports wagering and table gaming.

Dona Ana County Democratic State Representative Raymundo Lara has introduced House Bill 101, the New Mexico Education Assistance Act. Here’s Lara on the bill:

Lara-1  :23

The bill provides for sports wagering and table gaming through the lottery—and enacts all the restrictions that accompany state-sponsored gambling. It would also create the educational assistance fund. Lara says the bill would provide up to forty-four-million dollars in new revenue.
