2021 Capitol Report, March 4



One week from Sunday, New Mexico and many other states will officially change the time of day, as Daylight Savings Time will resume at two-a.m. on March 14th.

But as Tom Trowbridge reports from the Roundhouse, one state lawmaker is trying once again to put an end to the twice-annual practice of changing the clocks.

He is known as “Father Time.” Roswell Republican Senator Cliff Pirtle has made it clear from the time he took office in 2013 that he—and many others—want an end to practice of “springing forward” and “falling back.”

Now Pirtle—who’s reluctant to call himself a leader in this sudden national movement to minimize government control of the time of day—wants New Mexico to formally join with other states:
