ECECD Summer Food Service Program for New Mexico Children Resumes

More than 550 locations statewide offering free meals through August

SANTA FE – Today, the New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD) Family Nutrition Bureau announced the return of the Summer Food Service Program at 570 meal site locations across the state. Administered by ECECD and funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the program provides nutritious meals at no cost to children and youth ages 18 and younger from June through August, filling a gap when school-based meal programs pause during the summer. In New Mexico, 1 in 5 children suffer from food insecurity.
