As an applicant for federal funding and permitting, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), New Mexico Division, must comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966 (as amended). Section 106 requires federal agencies to consider the effects of their actions upon historic resources listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places when planning projects.
