OUTBREAK: ‘Nursing homes have become ground zero for COVID-19’

Target 7 investigation finds that 60 of the state’s 71 nursing homes were put on notice by feds prior to outbreak

Nearly half of the state’s COVID-19 deaths have occurred inside a nursing home, assisted leaving center or behavioral health facility, according to records obtained by Target 7. And seven of those facilities were previously put on notice by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for not following simple procedures that could prevent the spread of a disease like COVID-19.
