Deadline nears for Couy Griffin recall petition

NEW MEXICO – Petition organizers have a month left to get 700 more signatures to initiate the recall election of Couy Griffin.

Griffin, a commissioner in Otero County, is facing federal charges for his alleged role in the Jan. 6 US Capitol riots. Earlier this month, prosecutors offered him a plea deal that, according to Griffin’s comments on a radio show, did not include jail time.
