Elephant dies at ABQ BioPark

Thorn loses battle with virus

A three year old male elephant at the ABQ BioPark has lost his battle with a virus. Thorn, an Asian elephant calf at the BioPark, died from EEHV – an ailment that can be fatal for young elephants. BioPark staff discovered the condition December 15, and often worked around the clock to help Thorn. But those efforts would not be enough to save the young elephant.
