When will New Mexico hit its peak in new COVID-19 infections?

New Mexico broke its record for new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, but Dept. of Health officials said the peak isn’t here yet.

New Mexico reported 5,735 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, shattering a record. The state department of health tells KOAT the peak will likely be in late January to early February.

Using a bunch of data, the modeling team with DOH is estimating the state will hit the peak sometime between Jan. 28 to Feb. 2. Officials are anticipating two weeks after the peak, the state will sadly see even more hospitalizations and deaths.
