Nearly 90% of recent COVID hospitalizations are among unvaccinated New Mexicans

Over the last four weeks, charts from the New Mexico Department of Health say 89.6% of patients hospitalized for COVID-19 were not fully vaccinated. During the time frame from Aug. 2 to Aug. 30 there have been 20,233 new COVID-19 cases in New Mexico. Of that, 3,579 have been vaccinated, which is a total of 17.7% breakthrough cases.
