Lightning strikes fire again in Gila National Forest

Dubbed the Noonday Fire, it’s 5 acres and could possibly move west

SILVER CITY, N.M. — A new wildfire has been started by lightning in the Gila National Forest in the Silver City Ranger District, a news release said. The fire is located 6 miles north of state Highway 152, southwest of Deadman Canyon and west of Noonday Canyon. It is estimated to be 5 acres in size. Smoke is visible from the Mimbres Valley and Highway 152.
