The Sixty-Six Fire, located on private land east of Albuquerque in Carnuel, is now estimated at 24 acres and 40% containment. The fire was first reported at 5:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon (06/16). Strong canyon winds fanned the fire, which then jumped I-40 and began burning on both sides of the interstate, forcing its closure for several hours.
